Art is a collaboration between the artist and the medium. The sculpture and the stone are together the creator of a statue, and in literature it is the writer and the language. Thus, linguistics, the study of language, is central to the life of a writer, whether he actively pursues it or only instinctively feels it. Linguistics has been a life long fascination for me. I received a Bachelors Degree in Romance Languages and a Masters Degree in Teaching English from Hunter College, New York. From the University of Trieste, in Italy, I received a Diploma in Translation. I have taught languages and have trained teachers for twenty years, and during this time I have had the occasion to ponder many questions of linguistics, to write some opinions and to present papers and conduct workshops on various topics. I would like to present some of my ideas here. I hope they will be of interest.
